De hecho, cuanto m&#xE1;s se subvenciona a les arrendadores, m&#xE1;s d&#xE9;bil es el poder de los despose&#xED;dos y nuestra capacidad de ser libres.</p><p>Si los arrendadores desean manifestar tu solidaridad con los reci&#xE9;n llegados <em>o a cualquier persona necesitada</em>, nunca se les debe cobrar el alquiler si la persona necesitada no est&#xE1; en el proceso de ser agregada como co-propietaria de la propiedad o del terreno.</p><p>Condenamos esta pr&#xE1;ctica mediante la cual se utilizan fondos, subvenciones, etc. para subsidiar relaciones coloniales y explotadoras. No condenamos a les inquilines obligades a hacerlo; condenamos a les arrendadores que lo exigen y lo aceptan y a los que permiten que esto suceda, especialmente cuando tenemos un/a amigo/a, familiar o colaborador que est&#xE1; involucrado/a en este fraude principal.</p><p>No respaldamos ning&#xFA;n tipo de arrendador explotador que cobre alquiler&#x2013;y no solo cuando se trata de ayudar a personas nuevas en estas tierras. Esto se aplica a todos.</p><p>Mucha gente olvida o no sabe que la escasez de seguridad en tierra y vivienda para los oprimidos se debe en gran medida a las clases arrendadoras (respaldadas por varios poderes estatales, incluidos los gobiernos progresistas) de hoy y de ayer. Ellos son el motivo porque sentimos que haya tan poco y porque tenemos acceso a tan poco. Haz el tab&#xFA; de preguntarles a tus amigues y coorganizadores: &#xBF;eres arrendador? &#xBF;Proteges alguno?</p><p>Un grupo de dos personas que agitan tales ideas y pr&#xE1;cticas en espacios puede ser la semilla de algo poderoso. No necesita consultarnos ni unirse a una organizaci&#xF3;n existente para ser una fuerza efectiva o tener un comienzo significativo para desafiar la explotaci&#xF3;n que ves donde est&#xE1;s activo. Han aprobado esta versi&#xF3;n final que Tenants United (en el sur de Chicago) tambi&#xE9;n ha aprobado el 28/09/23.</p><p>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~</p><p><strong>Rent, Anti-Racism and Transnationalism Are Incompatible: No Subsidies for Exploiter Landlords!</strong></p><p>As we see various funds rolling out to assist new arrivals (asylum seekers, migrants, etc.) we are seeing a replay of what the pandemic unleashed: more and more subsidies for the landlord classes without any meaningful gains for the dispossessed. In fact, the more landlords are subsidized, the weaker is the power of the dispossessed and our ability to be free.</p><p>If landlords wish to provide &#x201C;solidarity&#x201D; to new arrivals <em>or anyone in need</em>, rent should never be charged to them if they are not in the process of being added as co-owners of the property and, or land.</p><p>We condemn this practice whereby funds, grants, etc. are being used to subsidize colonial, exploitative relationships. We do not condemn those tenants forced to use them&#x2014;we condemn landlords who are demanding them and accepting them and those who are allowing this to happen, especially where we have a friend, relative or collaborator who is involved in this mainstream racket.</p><p>We do not endorse any type of exploiter landlord charging rent&#x2014;and not just when it comes to helping people new to these lands. This applies to everyone.</p><p>Many people either forget or do not know that the scarcity of security in land and housing for the downtrodden is largely due to the landlord classes (backed by various state powers, including the progressive governments) of today and yesterday. They are why we feel there is so little and why we have access to so little. With little to no pushback, and to name just a few of their crimes, both legal and illegal: landlords in Chicagoland and Illinois collude to drive up rent prices; they run buildings into the ground; they retaliate and de facto expel from the city tenants who dare to stand up to their brutality; they squeeze every penny from tenants and Indigenous people with no prospects of real long-term security for tenants as landlords have for the rent tenants put forward. It is for these reasons so many recent policy campaigns for tenant protections exist in Chicagoland and beyond&#x2013;for example, rent control, MTO&#x2019;s repair campaign, just cause evictions, etc. Though the real solutions will be found in meetings and assemblies of the oppressed&#x2013;not in those legislative domains that the landlords have rigged in their favor&#x2026;.</p><p>If any landlord wants to receive an exception for, say, utilities for what a tenant actually consumes or some other thing, this should be regulated by assemblies of the dispossessed within cooperative solutions that stand opposed to all forms of oppression and colonialism, including the colonialism that even people of color practice.</p><p>We need to find creative ways in which such funds can be used to offer long-term and cooperative housing and land security<em> for everyone</em>.</p><p>Let&#x2019;s agitate in our relationships, old and new, to think differently and refuse the ways in which governments are manufacturing crises to pit us against each other and to reify in many ways the power of the various predator classes that rule above us and that we even find among so-called mutual aidists, progressives, activists, liberals and radicals. Do the taboo thing of asking your friends and co-organizers: are you a landlord? Do you protect any?</p><p>A group of two people agitating such ideas and practices in spaces can be the seed of something powerful. You don&#x2019;t need to consult us or join an existing organization to be an effective force or have a meaningful start to challenge the exploitation you are seeing where you are active.
